General Biology
01:119:101/102


General Biology 101/102 is a two semester sequence intended for students majoring in the biological sciences or pharmacy, and for students who plan to attend a professional school in the sciences.

This course is a CORE requirement for the Biological Sciences and Division of Life Sciences departmental majors.

Prerequisites

Placement into English 350:101 (or a higher) and Mathematics 640:111 (or higher)

Successful completion of 119:101 is required for progression into 119:102.

Course Description

General Biology 119:101/102, is designed to prepare students for upper level biology courses in a wide range of topics.  The course includes both lecture and laboratory sections.  119:101 covers cell structure and function, plant biology and genetics; 119:102 covers animal diversity, animal structure and function, ecology and evolution.

Lecture component:       Two hourly exams and a Comprehensive Final Exam

Laboratory component: Lab Reports, Study Questions, Quizzes, and a Final Laboratory
