 The 2009 CBN Honors Colloquium

The 2009 CBN Honors Colloquium took place on Friday, April 24, 2008, from 1PM to 3PM, in Room D-406 of Nelson Biological laboratories.  Faculty, students and visitors took part in recognizing the research accomplishments of our 2008-2009 honors program students.  Following the PowerPoint presentations, each honor student was presented with a certificate of Honors in CBN and a copy of the Merck Manual of Diagnosis and Therapy (18th Edition).

The following is a list of the CBN Honor students and the titles of their presentations. 

David K. Chen - In Vitro Differentiation of Marrow Stromal Cells to Putative Neurons:  Probing the Selective Effects of Chimeric GFP-Tau Overexpression.  Research Mentor: Dr. Dale Woodbury (UMDNJ)

David will work this summer in the laboratory of Dr. Robert Heary, Professor of Neurological Surgery, UMDNJ-NJMS. He will enter medical school UMDNJ – NJMS in the Fall. 

Anna T. Hader - Quantitative Electrophysiological Analysis of Neural Stem Cell Maturation.  Research Mentor: Dr. Mark Plummer (CBN)

Anna will work for a position in the pharmaceutical industry with future plans to continue graduate studies. 

Cynthia C. Hung - A Screen for Suppressors and Enhancers of Rab-10.  Research Mentor: Dr. Christopher Rongo (Genetics)

Rohan Mathur - Harnessing Homeostatic Mechanisms for Neuroprotection.  Research Mentor: Dr. Alice Liu (CBN)

Rohan will attend Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in the Fall.

Christopher J. Redmond - Characterization of CD40 Membrane Localization in Normal and Immunodeficient B Cells Conditionally Transformed with Epstein-Barr Virus.  Research Mentor: Dr. Lori Covey (CBN)

Christopher has received a prestigious training award to study this summer at the National Cancer Institute, Frederick, MD. He will this Fall enter a Masters Program in Integrated Immunology , Oxford University, UK

Simranjeet S. Sran - The Roles of Cypin, PSD-95, Snapin, and the NMDA Receptor in Dendritic Spines During Ischemic Stroke.  Research Mentor: Dr. Bonnie Firestein (CBN)

Simranjeet will enter the second year of the BA/MD Program, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School this Fall. He will work in the Firestein Laboratory this summer.
