Navigating Around Nelson Labs

Nelson Laboratories can be a confusing building. The oldest part of Nelson consist of three wings A, B and C. These wings are different sizes: A wing has three floors, B wing has 4 floors and C wing has two floors. These floors are all on the same level.

The fourth wing of Nelson is also known as Brinkley and Adele Smithers Hall.  It was originally built as an addition to Alcohol Studies but 2 of the 4 floors are used  by Life Sciences.  The first floor houses our animal facilities.  Within the Division of Life Sciences building this is referred to as the D-wing.  The D-wing building is on a different height than the rest of Nelson Labs so that only the second floors are on the same level.

Arrows indicate entrances to the building. First time visitors should enter the B-wing lobby. If arriving by car, park on lot 55 or 56. The entrance between the B and D wings is handicapped accessible.

Upon entering the lobby from lot 56 the stairs will be immediately to your left. The elevators will be through the fire doors to your right. If entering between the B and D wings, the elevator is in the "mini-lobby." Go to the second floor.

The Genetics Undergraduate Office is in B416. Exit the B wing elevator and turn right. B416 is the 7th door on the right. From the D-wing elevator exit on 4F. Go though the double doors immediately in front of you. B416 is the 13th door on the left.
