The Division of Life Sciences (DLS) operates two different Wireless networks, one for local DLS users and Guests, the other for users from the Rutgers Community. DLS users and Guests must use the DLS-WNS network, while all Eden and RCI users must reconnect to the RUWireless-DLS network.

To secure network traffic we require VPN encryption for DLS wireless users. This two step process requires users to first connect to the DLS wireless network, DLS-WNS, then establish a PPTP VPN tunnel which is supported by Windows Vista/XP/2000/98 and Mac OS X computers. Wireless guests and Rutgers Users are not required to use this VPN. Directions to install an setup the VPN connection can be found below.
Wifi has only a limited amount of shared bandwidth therefore a relaxed QoS (quality of service) restriction is imposed on all users. This limits the individual speed of network connections as well as limit what network services are available to ensure that all users receive acceptable network performance.
Your computer must have an 802.11b/g (Wi-Fi) wireless network adapter.
DLS users on Windows please try the setup utility first, or you can create the connection manually following the step-by-step instructions below. DLS users on Mac OSX computers must use the step-by-step instructions below.
