Pediatric head and neck cancers
Our laboratory is interested in the role of bone marrow-derived cells in solid tumor growth and injury repair. MSCs are a multipotent cell type found in the adult bone marrow. These cells home to areas of injury and tumor growth through a vascular route In collaboration with Dr. Debabrata Banerjee’s laboratory at CINJ we have begun to study the signaling mechanisms that lead to mobilization of MSCs from the bone marrow and their homing to tumors and sites of injury. We are also investigating the differentiation of MSCs that occurs during tumor growth and injury repair as well as the effect of MSCs on other cellular components of the microenvironment such as macrophages.
