I conduct basic research in the area of evolutionary genetics. with a general goal of better understanding the mechanisms of evolution. Specific research areas include the origins of biological species. the evolution of recombination. and the origins of modern humans. My research methods are roughly split between empirical molecular biological methods and the mathematical and statistical modelling of evolutionary processes.
