Pharmacology

The Molecular Biosciences program offers numerous opportunities for research and study in the areas of Pharmacology. Students can choose to enter the Joint Rutgers/UMDNJ Joint Program in Pharmacology.

The study of Pharmacology is intrinsically multidisciplinary, using the methods of chemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, and physiology. Our Graduate Program has members from several different Departments at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and Rutgers University.

Research of our faculty covers broad areas including:

  • Cancer Pharmacology
  • Drug Design and Metabolism
  • Neuropharmacology
  • Signal Transduction

The Graduate Program offers studies leading to the Ph.D. degree in Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology and also participates in a combined M.D./Ph.D. Program.

Specific foci of research within the departments range from:

  • Study of Drug Interactions with DNA Ttopoisomerases
  • Protein Chaperones
  • Neural Growth Factors
  • Fundamental Studies in Cell and Molecular Biology
  • Signal Transduction
  • Carcinogenesis
