(1) A thick hyaline pellicle; (2) with capacity for squirming movements; (3) canal opening subapical; (4) ingestion organelle present; (5) the trailing flagellum is usually longer than the cell and may form a hook as it emerges from the flagellar canal and bends backwards, it is as wide or wider than the anterior flagellum: (6) anterior flagellum beats with a sweeping motion; (7) reservoir on left.  (from Larsen and Patterson, 1990)
